Christmas ConcertSalvation Army Regent Hall, Oxford Street, London, 15th December 2006 We closed off another remarkable year with a wonderful sing, drawing a 300+ crowd to this fine central-London venue. Guest performances from: Friends of Bulgaria Charity Christmas BallBulgarian Embassy, London, 12 December 2006 The choir performed a short set at this annual event in aid of orphanages and childrens's charities in Bulgaria. BBC Choir of the Year Grand FinalMillennium Centre, Cardiff, 10th December 2006 It was impossible to choose between such different and able choirs, but the wonderful Chantage took the day - winning not only the judges prize, but also the audience prize. The final will be broadcast on Radio 3 on Monday 11 December, 7:30 - 10 pm, and BBC 4 on 16 December, 7:00-8:30 pm. On the High RoadWith the Clod Ensemble, 1st December 2006 In a one-off preliminary production of a new translation of Chekhov's play, a nine-voice fraction of the choir sang original music by Paul Clark. Virgin Queen: Best Original ScoreRoyal Television Society awards, 20th November 2006 Martin Phipps' fine soundtrack had contributions from the London Bulgarian Choir, and solos from Dessi. BBC Choir of the Year Category FinalsMillennium Centre, Cardiff, 12th November 2006 We won! We're pleased to announce that we are BBC Radio 3 Open Choir of the year 2006. Highlights of all the category finals were broadcast on Radio 3's "The Choir" on the 19th and 26th of November - we were on the 26th. Evening of Bulgarian CultureLondon Press Club, 26 October 2006 Competing honourably with a Bulgarian wine tasting, the choir enthralled its audience with a variety of regional folk songs. Informal singing and dancing continued throughout the evening... Summer ConcertThe Grosvenor Chapel, Mayfair, 22nd July 2006 A wonderful evening's singing in this beautiful church bought our season to a close in style. Big audience, new songs - and a standing ovation! Radio GagarinNotting Hill Arts Club, Notting Hill, 16th July 2006 Back to Max Reinhardt's bi-monthly experiment in Sunday Socialism, this time with just twelve of us - all we could fit on stage. Plenty of dancing afterwards to the music of Babar Luck and Mama Matrix. More at the NHAC Website. Friends of Bulgaria Charity Summer DanceForeign Press Association, London, 15th June 2006 Friends of Bulgaria's fundraising ball, in aid of projects to help disadvantaged children in Bulgaria. Supported by ZOV UK, the Bulgarian City Club, and the Bulgarian Embassy. Swaledale FestivalReeth and Grinton, Swaledale, North Yorkshire, 26-27th May 2006 We sang to packed audiences at The Bridge Inn, Grinton on Friday and at the Reeth Methodist Church on Saturday. We also performed a few songs on the musical walk on the Sunday - and were grateful to the King's Arms, Reeth for their enthusiastic support (two nights running!) of impromptu singing in their lounge bar. We had a wonderful time across the whole weekend, and would like to express our thanks and deep appreciation to the hosts, organisers and other local people who were unfailing in their hospitality to our thirty-plus singers, assorted relatives and partners. Music for ChangeHerne Bay, 14th May 2006 A dozen or so of us warmed up a grey and windy day in Herne Bay with two hours of songs and dances. Thanks to Music for Change for organising this event. Shouting GalleryNational Portrait Gallery, London, 12th May 2006 This event, organised by The Shout!, celebrated the Gallery's 150th Anniversary. We performed as we walked through the galleries, finally joining six other choirs to sing a specially-commissioned piece by Orlando Gough. BBC Choir of the Year (first round)The Anvil, Basingstoke, 9th April 2006 We won "Choir of the Day" in the "Open" category, and wait to hear if we will be selected for the Category Finals in November. People danced! A1 Festival of LightHighbury Fields, Islington, 25th March 2006 Celebrating the regeneration of the A1 from corridor to community at the A1 Festival of Light.
